Six time zones, one arrangement
This page covers the whole of North America, which spans six time zones from Newfoundland to the Pacific. That breadth is the reason a single set of scheduling advice does not work across it, and the reason the most useful thing we can offer here is not a recommended time but a way of choosing one.
The principle is simple. Because every lesson is arranged individually rather than broadcast at a fixed hour, the question is never whether your time zone is convenient. It is which of your own available hours is least contested — and that answer differs sharply between the eastern seaboard and the Pacific coast.

Which hours are scarce, and where
Eastern evenings are the most contested
The mid-evening block on the eastern seaboard overlaps with peak demand from Europe and the Gulf. Families here should book further ahead and be more flexible about the exact hour.
Central is the widest
The middle of the continent overlaps comfortably with both coasts and part of the European day. It generally has the broadest choice of workable hours.
Mountain and Pacific are the easiest
Evenings in Calgary, Denver or Vancouver fall outside peak demand in both directions, so first-choice slots are usually available at short notice.

Online Quran classes for families across the USA and Canada, including New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Houston
Because every class is held live over video, there's no commute and no fixed classroom location -- students join from the USA and Canada, including New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Houston on a schedule built around Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific Time, with the same qualified, native Arabic-speaking tutors available to every family regardless of neighbourhood.
What does not vary across the continent
Three things hold regardless of where in North America you are, and they matter more than the time zone does.
The first is that frequency beats duration. Three short sessions across a week produce better retention than one long session at the weekend, for both Tajweed and memorisation, and the only reason in-person study tends toward the latter is that travel has to be justified. Remove the travel and there is no reason to keep the shape it forced.
The second is that breaks cost more than they appear to. A fortnight away barely affects fluent recitation and noticeably affects recently memorised material, and the recovery is invisible — it looks like slow progress in the weeks afterwards rather than like lost ground. A light schedule across a holiday is almost always cheaper than the catching up that follows a clean stop.
The third is that continuity of teacher outranks convenience of time. Changing tutor partway through a memorisation programme costs more than almost any scheduling compromise, which is the real purpose of the free trial: to settle whether the teaching suits the student before anything depends on it.
Students join from every province and state on identical terms, with the same tutors and the same curriculum.
What families in the USA and Canada ask before enrolling
Does my time zone limit which tutors I can work with?
No. Lessons are arranged individually rather than at fixed times, so the zone changes which hours are busy, not which tutors are available.
Which time zones find it easiest to book?
Mountain and Pacific, generally, because their evenings sit outside peak demand in both directions. Eastern evenings are the most contested and are worth booking further ahead.
Is one long weekly lesson enough?
It works for general recitation and poorly for memorisation. Retention depends far more on how often material is revisited than on how long each sitting lasts.
Should we stop over the school holidays?
A reduced schedule is usually cheaper than a full stop. The recovery after a clean break tends to cost more time than the revision would have.
How important is staying with the same tutor?
More important than the exact lesson time, particularly during Hifz. It is the main thing the free trial exists to settle.
