A spread-out metro and many school districts

Greater Columbus has grown outward along the I-270 outerbelt, and its suburbs each run their own school district with its own calendar. A family in Hilliard and a family in Westerville can have breaks in different weeks, and a shared in-person class has to work around both.

An online lesson follows your own household. It does not depend on anyone else's district calendar, and it does not involve driving around the outerbelt at rush hour.

Late summer evenings in Central Ohio

Our hours need no conversion in Columbus, since Ohio keeps Eastern Time: lessons run 6:00 AM to 11:30 PM. Ohio sits toward the western side of that zone, so summer evenings here are long.

Maghrib after nine in June

In late June the sun sets after nine, so an after-Maghrib lesson would be late. An afternoon slot often works better in summer.

Early winter evenings

In December Maghrib is around five, leaving a long evening for a lesson after it.

Lessons until 11:30 PM

Classes run until 11:30 PM, so there is always an evening option for teenagers and adults.

Why families in Columbus, Ohio choose us

Columbus families can book from 6:00 AM to 11:30 PM Eastern, every day, and schedule the lesson around their own household rather than a district calendar or the I-270 traffic. One student, one teacher: our 100+ qualified teachers include women teachers for families in Dublin, Westerville, Hilliard, Grove City and Gahanna. We have taught this way since 2010, now with 2,500+ students, and the first 30-minute class is free.

Working across district calendars

Most Central Ohio districts start in mid to late August and finish in late May or early June, but breaks, teacher days and snow-day make-ups vary from district to district. A private lesson set to your own household's week does not have to stop for any of them.

Ohio winters bring snow and ice days that close schools, and an online lesson can usually carry on through them. If a storm knocks out your power or internet, contact our support team as soon as you can and they'll review the missed class under our make-up policy.

Even within one family, elementary, middle and high schools often finish at different times. Because each child has a separate one-on-one lesson, the youngest can learn as soon as they are home and an older sibling can take a later slot after practice, without anyone waiting around.
