Arizona's time zone, and its one exception

Across nearly all of the state, Arizona's clocks stay on Mountain Standard Time twelve months a year, with no spring-forward and no fall-back. The Navajo Nation, in the northeast of the state, is the exception: it does observe daylight saving time.

Our teaching day is set on Eastern Time, 6:00 AM to 11:30 PM, so the local hours depend on where you are. In most of Arizona the teaching day ends at 9:30 PM in the winter months and 8:30 PM in the summer months. On the Navajo Nation they run until 9:30 PM all year.

Our hours across Arizona

Because most of Arizona keeps one clock all year while the East Coast changes twice, the end of our teaching day moves by an hour in most of the state.

Winter, most of Arizona

The teaching window is 4:00 AM to 9:30 PM on Arizona's clock.

Summer, most of Arizona

The window shifts to 3:00 AM to 8:30 PM, ending an hour earlier.

Navajo Nation

Because the Nation observes daylight saving, its window stays at 4:00 AM to 9:30 PM in every season.

Serving Arizona and beyond

Online Quran classes for families across Arizona, including Tucson, Mesa, Flagstaff, Yuma, and Prescott

Lessons happen over video, so families in Sierra Vista, Lake Havasu City, Casa Grande and the Phoenix suburbs have the same teachers as anyone else.

Why families in Arizona choose us

Across most of Arizona, our classes run until 9:30 PM in winter and 8:30 PM in summer, because the state keeps one clock all year while the East Coast changes; on the Navajo Nation they run until 9:30 PM year-round. Each student gets one of our 100+ qualified teachers to themselves, and families in Tucson, Mesa, Flagstaff, Yuma and Prescott may ask for a woman teacher. We went online in 2010, teach over 2,500 students now, and the first 30-minute trial class is free.

From the desert to the high country

Arizona's climate varies more than its clock. The low desert around Tucson and Yuma has extreme summer heat, while Flagstaff, at around 7,000 feet, gets real winter snow. Either way, an online lesson at home avoids the worst of the weather.

A good number of Arizona districts reopen in late July or the first days of August and close for summer in late May. With such an early return, June and the first half of July are the realistic months for an intensive summer push.

What Arizona families ask before enrolling

What are your hours in Arizona?

Outside the Navajo Nation, the teaching day ends at 9:30 PM in winter and 8:30 PM in summer; on the Navajo Nation it ends at 9:30 PM year-round.

Does my lesson move in March?

Your Arizona clock does not change, but our Eastern-based day does, so a lesson set late in the evening may need to come forward an hour. We will check it with you.

Do you teach in Tucson and Flagstaff?

Yes. Lessons are online, so families anywhere in Arizona have the same teachers.

Is there a woman teacher available?

Yes. Female teachers are available for girls and women — just ask when you book your free trial.
