Lake-effect snow in the north, a milder south

Northeast Ohio, east of Cleveland, sits in the Lake Erie snow belt, where lake-effect snow can pile up quickly through the winter. Southern Ohio, around Cincinnati, gets far less. Either way, an evening drive to a Quran class in January is the commitment most likely to slip.

An online lesson is unaffected by the snow belt. It runs at home and on schedule, provided the electricity and connection hold.

Our hours in Ohio

From Toledo to Cincinnati, Ohio keeps Eastern Time, so the teaching day is simply 6:00 AM to 11:30 PM, all week.

Snow-belt winters

When lake-effect snow closes schools in the north, an online class can carry on.

Every after-school hour

From the end of school until 11:30 PM, any hour can be booked.

Long summer evenings

Ohio sits toward the west of the Eastern zone, so in June Maghrib comes after nine.

Serving Ohio and beyond

Online Quran classes for families across Ohio, including Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo, Akron, and Dayton

Lessons are online, so families in Youngstown, Canton, Lorain, Mason and West Chester have the same teachers and hours as families in the big cities.

Why families in Ohio choose us

Ohio families can book from 6:00 AM to 11:30 PM Eastern every day, so lessons carry on through a snow-belt winter without anyone driving on icy roads. Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo, Akron and Dayton students each work with one of our 100+ qualified teachers, and may ask for a female teacher. Since 2010 our classes have been online; we teach 2,500+ students today and offer a free 30-minute trial class.

District calendars and calamity days

Ohio school calendars are set by each district. Most start in mid to late August and finish in late May or early June, and winter weather can add closures that districts later make up. A private lesson booked around your household simply carries on.

For families who keep the time around Maghrib for prayer, Ohio's daylight swing matters: Maghrib comes around five in early December and after nine in late June, so a winter and a summer lesson time is often easier than following sunset. Northern Ohio families who live with lake-effect snow every winter tend to build the lesson into the snow-day routine rather than cancel it.

Ohio's big cities are spread across the state, from Cleveland and Toledo on Lake Erie to Cincinnati on the Ohio River, and smaller towns between them can be a long way from any of them. A student in a rural county has the same online teacher options as a student downtown.

Cincinnati sits on the Kentucky border, and plenty of families in the metro live on one side of the Ohio River and work on the other. Both sides keep Eastern Time, so a lesson time never needs converting, whichever bank you are on.
