Long summer evenings and an 8:30 finish

Seattle is the northernmost big city in the lower 48 states, and its summer evenings are very long. In late June the sun does not set until after nine. Our teaching day ends at 8:30 PM Pacific, so in midsummer a lesson after Maghrib is not possible.

Winter is the opposite. In December the sun sets before half past four, and the hour after Maghrib falls in the late afternoon, comfortably inside our hours. Planning for both seasons from the start saves a rearrangement in June.

Serving Seattle and beyond

Online Quran classes for families across Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Kent, Renton, and Tacoma

Lessons are live video calls, so families in Everett, Lynnwood, Federal Way and across the Eastside have the same teachers and hours as families in Seattle.

Why families in Seattle choose us

Seattle families can book until 8:30 PM Pacific Time, every day, which covers the stretch from school pickup to the early evening with no drive over the 520 or I-90 bridges. A student learns one-on-one with a teacher from our 100+, and female teachers are available in Bellevue, Redmond, Kent, Renton and Tacoma. Teaching online since 2010, with 2,500+ students today, we start with a free 30-minute trial class.

Dark, wet winters and a late-summer start

Most Seattle-area districts start school around late August or early September and finish in mid to late June. The long, wet winter is when an at-home lesson is easiest to keep: it is dark before the end of the school day for weeks, and an online class does not involve anyone going back out in the rain.

Summer needs more planning. With Maghrib after nine in June and July, families who like a lesson after Maghrib in winter usually switch to an afternoon slot from May, then move back in the autumn.

For many Eastside and Seattle households, the working day includes a commute across Lake Washington on SR 520 or I-90, and traffic on the bridges can make the time a parent gets home unpredictable. A lesson that needs no driver lets a child start on time whatever the bridges are doing.

For families who commute by ferry from Bainbridge Island, Vashon or the Kitsap Peninsula, the ferry schedule decides when a parent gets home. A lesson that does not depend on a parent driving to class lets a child start on time either way.
