Three holiday zones, deliberately out of step
France divides the country into three school holiday zones — A, B and C — and staggers the February and spring breaks between them by a week or two, so that the whole country is not on the move at once.
Paris, Bordeaux and Lyon are in different zones. Two families a few hundred kilometres apart can be on holiday in consecutive weeks rather than the same one, and a household that has moved between regions will find its break has shifted without anything else changing.
For a recurring Quran lesson that is a small but genuine planning problem, and it has a simple answer: do not let the school calendar decide when study happens.

Living with the zone system
Check your own zone, not the national picture
Reports of “the French school holidays” usually mean one zone's dates. Yours may be a fortnight away from them.
Summer is the one thing everyone shares
The long break in July and August applies across all three zones. It is also the longest gap in the year and the one most worth planning for.
Keep the lesson on its own schedule
A class that runs to its own rhythm rather than the school's is unaffected by which zone you are in, and does not need renegotiating each time the dates move.
Taught by qualified Quran teachers
- Native Arabic speakers with detailed knowledge of Makhraj and Tajweed, with Ijazah-certified tutors available at a higher rate.
- Experienced in delivering a structured Islamic curriculum.
- A choice of male and female tutors to suit your preference.
- A Quran completion certificate is awarded when you finish your course.
Online Quran classes for families across France, including Paris, Lyon, Marseille, and Toulouse
Because every class is held live over video, there's no commute and no fixed classroom location -- students join from France, including Paris, Lyon, Marseille, and Toulouse on a schedule built around Central European Time, with the same qualified, native Arabic-speaking tutors available to every family regardless of neighbourhood.
Central European Time, and a country that is wider than it looks
France keeps Central European Time, an hour ahead of UTC and two in summer, changing on the last Sundays of March and October. Anyone holding a lesson slot against a tutor outside Europe should expect a brief drift twice a year, because the changeover dates differ between regions and are in the opposite season to Australia's.
The country also spans a useful amount of latitude — roughly forty-two degrees in the south to fifty-one in the north — which is enough that sunset in Marseille and sunset in Lille are meaningfully different across the year. A family in the north will find the winter evenings noticeably shorter and may want an earlier lesson from November; a family in the south less so.
Teaching is in English, with Quranic Arabic taught directly rather than through a third language. For a child schooled in French this is not an obstacle — the Arabic is being learned from scratch in either case, and consistency of teacher matters far more than the language of instruction.
Students join from Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse and across the country on identical terms, whichever holiday zone they fall in.
What families in France ask before enrolling
Which holiday zone are we in?
It depends on your académie — the country is split into three, and the February and spring breaks are staggered between them. It is worth checking yours rather than relying on national reporting of the dates.
Does the zone system affect our lessons?
Only if the lessons are tied to the school calendar. Keeping them on their own schedule, with a reduced load across whichever break applies, removes the problem entirely.
What language are lessons taught in?
English, with Quranic Arabic taught directly. A child in French-language schooling starts from the same point as any other beginner.
Does daylight saving change our slot?
It can, against a tutor outside Europe. European and North American changeover dates differ by a week or two, and Australia's are in the opposite season.
Which parts of France do you cover?
All of them, including the south and the north, with no difference in availability. There is no catchment area.
Do you teach adult beginners?
Yes. Adults starting from the beginning are a substantial share of our students, and one-to-one lessons avoid the self-consciousness of learning alongside children.
How long is a typical lesson?
Half an hour suits most students, taken several times a week. Because there is no travel attached, a short lesson is worth booking in a way it would not be if it required a journey.
What happens over the summer?
July and August are the same for every zone, and it is the longest gap in the year. Either a light holding schedule or a deliberate intensive works; leaving it open is what costs.
