Six hundred kilometres on a single clock
Austria stretches a long way east to west — from the Hungarian border to Vorarlberg is roughly six hundred kilometres — and the entire country reads the same clock. Because sunset moves with longitude, that means the sun sets meaningfully later in the west than in the east on any given evening.
The difference is not dramatic, but it is enough to matter for a household setting lessons around Maghrib. A timetable that suits a family in Vienna is not the same as one that suits a family near Bregenz, even though both are looking at the same hour on the same clock.

What varies inside Austria, and what does not
Sunset moves west
Later in Vorarlberg and Tyrol than in Vienna and Burgenland. Use a local prayer timetable rather than a national one.
The semester break is staggered
Austria splits the February break between regions across consecutive weeks rather than closing the whole country at once. Vienna and Lower Austria do not share dates with the western provinces.
The clock does not vary
Central European Time throughout, changing on the standard European dates. No internal offset exists.
Taught by qualified Quran teachers

Online Quran classes for families across Austria, including Vienna, Graz, Linz, and Salzburg
Because every class is held live over video, there's no commute and no fixed classroom location -- students join from Austria, including Vienna, Graz, Linz, and Salzburg on a schedule built around Central European Time, with the same qualified, native Arabic-speaking tutors available to every family regardless of neighbourhood.
Mountains, winter, and why a class at home holds
Much of Austria is Alpine, and in the western provinces winter reshapes what is practical for months at a time. An evening commitment that requires driving a mountain road in January is one that gets quietly abandoned, and regular in-person study in the valleys has always been harder to sustain than the map suggests.
A lesson held at home is not subject to any of that. The most visible effect is attendance through the eight or nine hardest weeks of the year, and it compounds: a student who does not lose February is measurably ahead of one who does by the following autumn.
The second effect is on selection rather than convenience. A family in a mountain valley is choosing from the same tutors as a family in Vienna, rather than from whoever happens to be reachable, and for Hifz or an Ijazah pathway that is the difference between a specialist and whoever is nearest.
The Austrian school year runs from early September to late June or early July, with the staggered February break, a fortnight at Christmas and a shorter one at Easter. None requires stopping; all are long enough to justify a reduced schedule rather than none.
Teaching is in English with Quranic Arabic taught directly. Students join from Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg and the western provinces on identical terms.
What families in Austria ask before enrolling
Should we use a national or a local prayer timetable?
A local one. Austria is long enough east to west that sunset differs noticeably between Vienna and Vorarlberg on the same clock.
When is the February break?
It depends on your province — the semester holiday is staggered across consecutive weeks rather than taken nationwide at once.
Does winter interrupt lessons in the mountains?
No, which is the main reason families in the western provinces study this way. There is no road involved, so January attendance is unaffected.
Does living outside a city limit our choice of tutor?
Not at all. The tutor pool is not restricted by what is reachable from your valley, which matters most for specialised work like Hifz.
Which parts of Austria do you cover?
All provinces. There is no catchment area and no difference in availability between east and west.
How long is a typical lesson?
Half an hour for most students, several times a week. Without a journey attached, a short lesson is worth booking in a way it would not be otherwise.
Do you teach adults?
Yes, including those starting from the beginning. Adult learners are a substantial share of our students and are taught one-to-one like everyone else.
Should we keep lessons running over the Christmas break?
For memorisation, something light is worth keeping. A fortnight is about the point at which recently memorised passages begin to loosen.
