The summer holiday is a moving target

Germany does not have a national school summer holiday. Each of the sixteen Länder sets its own dates, and they are deliberately staggered across roughly six weeks so that the whole country does not break at once.

The rotation also shifts from year to year, so a family in Bavaria that finished in August one year may finish in July the next, and a household that has moved between Länder will find its summer has moved with it.

For a weekly Quran lesson this is not a serious obstacle, but it does rule out one common assumption: that the schedule can be planned a year ahead around known holiday dates. It cannot, and the practical response is to stop trying.

Planning around dates you cannot predict

Give the lesson its own calendar

A class that runs to its own rhythm does not need rearranging every time the Land's dates rotate. This is the single most useful adjustment for a German household.

Reduce across breaks rather than stopping

Shorter revision sessions, nothing new. It costs very little, removes the recovery that follows a clean stop, and works regardless of when your holiday actually falls.

Confirm the coming year's dates in spring

If you do want to plan around them, they are published well in advance — but check your own Land rather than a national summary.

Serving Germany and beyond

Online Quran classes for families across Germany, including Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, and Frankfurt

Because every class is held live over video, there's no commute and no fixed classroom location -- students join from Germany, including Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, and Frankfurt on a schedule built around Central European Time, with the same qualified, native Arabic-speaking tutors available to every family regardless of neighbourhood.

“The scheduling around our time zone meant no more early-morning classes for my kids.”

Tariq M. — Father

Central European Time, and a country with real north-south spread

Germany keeps Central European Time, shifting to summer time on the last Sunday of March and back on the last Sunday of October. Against a tutor outside Europe that produces a brief drift twice a year, because the changeover dates are not shared and Australia's are in the opposite season.

The country runs from about forty-seven degrees north on the Swiss border to about fifty-five on the Baltic, and the difference shows in winter. Sunset in Flensburg comes appreciably earlier in December than in Munich, which means a lesson time that suits a family in the south may feel late for one in the north during the darkest weeks.

The usual solution applies: fix the class to the clock rather than to Maghrib, and review the time twice a year rather than nudging it as the evenings shift. A habit that stays still is kept; one that creeps is abandoned.

Teaching is in English with Quranic Arabic taught directly, so a child in German-language schooling starts from the same place as any other beginner. Students join from Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt and across all sixteen Länder on identical terms.

What families in Germany ask before enrolling

When are the school holidays here?

It depends on your Land. The sixteen states stagger their summer breaks across about six weeks and the order rotates between years, so there is no single national answer.

Can we plan our lesson schedule a year ahead?

The lesson, yes. The holidays around it, less reliably. Most families find it simpler to keep the class on its own schedule and reduce across whichever break applies.

Does daylight saving affect our slot?

Against a tutor outside Europe it can, for a week or two each spring and autumn. Within Europe the dates are shared and nothing moves.

What language are lessons in?

English, with Quranic Arabic taught directly rather than through German. The starting point is the same for every beginner.

Which parts of Germany do you cover?

All of them. There is no catchment area and no difference in tutor availability between Länder.

How often should a beginner have lessons?

Three or four short sessions a week rather than one or two long ones. Correction needs to arrive before a mistake hardens into a habit, and a full week between lessons is usually too long for that.

Can siblings be taught by the same tutor?

Yes, usually in consecutive slots. One protected evening is considerably easier to keep across a school year than several scattered commitments.
