Three hours behind, and why that matters

Most online schedules are drawn up on Eastern Time, and Los Angeles families feel it. Our class hours are 6:00 AM to 11:30 PM Eastern, which in Los Angeles means classes run until 8:30 PM Pacific. The afternoon and early evening are wide open; the late evening is not.

For a family with school-age children that is usually a good fit, because the useful window is the stretch from the end of school to the end of dinner. It does mean a lesson planned for after the children are in bed needs to happen earlier here than it would in New York, and it is better to know that before booking than to find out on the first night.

Planning a Pacific Time week

Los Angeles is on Pacific Time and changes its clocks on the same dates as the rest of the United States, so the conversion never drifts: our hours are always 3:00 AM to 8:30 PM in Los Angeles.

Afternoons are the sweet spot

Every hour from the end of the school day to 8:30 PM is available, which covers homework time, the gap before dinner and the hour after it.

The teaching day ends at 8:30 PM

Classes run until 8:30 PM Pacific, the end of our teaching day. If your household runs late, choose an earlier slot rather than hoping for a late one.

Weekend mornings are the easiest slots

On Saturdays and Sundays the whole morning and afternoon are open, which suits adults and teenagers who are busy during the week.

Serving Los Angeles and beyond

Online Quran classes for families across Los Angeles, Glendale, Pasadena, Long Beach, Torrance, and Anaheim

Because each lesson is held live over video, the size of the region stops mattering. A family in the San Fernando Valley, a student in Long Beach and a learner in Orange County all choose from the same teachers and the same hours, with no time lost on the 405, the 10 or the 101.

Why families in Los Angeles choose us

In Los Angeles, our classes run until 8:30 PM Pacific Time, 7 days a week, which covers the whole stretch from the end of school to after dinner, with no freeway in between. Lessons are always one-on-one, taught by our team of 100+ qualified teachers, and families in Glendale, Pasadena, Long Beach, Torrance and Anaheim can ask for a female teacher. We have been teaching online since 2010, currently serve 2,500+ students, and offer every new family a free 30-minute trial class.

A mid-August start and early winter evenings

Most Los Angeles schools go back in the middle of August and finish in early June, with a Thanksgiving break, a winter break and a week of spring break in between. Because the summer starts in June, the weeks before the August return are the natural time for an intensive push, whether that is finishing Noorani Qaida or consolidating a memorized surah.

Southern California has mild winters, but the evenings still close in. Maghrib falls before 4:50 in early December and after 8:00 in late June. In winter that leaves a long, quiet evening after Maghrib inside our class hours; in midsummer, Maghrib comes close to the 8:30 cut-off, so families who want a lesson after it usually book an earlier slot for June and July.

What Los Angeles families ask before enrolling

What are your class hours in Los Angeles?

Classes run from 3:00 AM to 8:30 PM Pacific Time, 7 days a week, which is 6:00 AM to 11:30 PM Eastern. In practice, Los Angeles families book afternoons, early evenings and weekends.

Can my child have a lesson after 8:30 PM?

Not on a regular basis, because 8:30 PM Pacific is the end of our class day. Many families choose a time between the end of school and dinner instead.

Yes. Female teachers are available for girls and women — just ask when you book your free trial.
