A summer that makes the case for itself
Texas summers do most of the arguing for studying at home. From June through much of September, taking a child out to an evening class means a hot car twice and a drive through the worst of the afternoon heat, and it is not a coincidence that this is the season in-person attendance drops hardest.
The same months are, awkwardly, the best available window for concentrated study — school is out, evenings are free, and nothing is competing for a student's attention. The households that get the most out of a Texas year are the ones that use the summer deliberately rather than writing it off.

Three things worth knowing about scheduling here
The school year starts in August
Most Texas districts return in the second half of August rather than after Labor Day. The usable summer window is therefore shorter than in much of the country, and an intensive planned for it needs to begin in June.
The state is not one time zone
Almost all of Texas keeps Central Time, but the far west of the state runs on Mountain. It affects very few families and confuses a disproportionate number of them, so it is worth confirming at setup.
Evening heat pushes lessons later
Through high summer many families move the class to after Maghrib simply because the house is more comfortable by then. It is a practical consideration rather than a religious one, but it shapes the schedule all the same.

Distance, and why it decides more here than elsewhere
Texas is large in a way that changes the question. In most metros the argument for learning online is that it saves half an hour each way. Here, for a family outside Houston, Dallas, Austin or San Antonio, the nearest qualified teacher may be an hour away or may not exist at all — and the choice is not between online and in-person but between online and nothing.
That is worth saying plainly because it changes what matters. For a family with local options, convenience is the deciding factor. For a family without them, the deciding factor is whether the teaching is good, and whether the tutor will still be there in a year.
Continuity is the thing to protect in that situation. Changing tutor partway through memorisation costs more than almost any scheduling inconvenience, so it is worth using the free trial properly — to establish fit rather than simply to confirm the technology works.
Beyond the four big metros, students join from across the state on identical terms. Nothing about availability, tutor quality or scheduling depends on how far you are from a city.
What families in Texas ask before enrolling
When do Texas schools go back?
Most districts return in the second half of August. If you are planning a summer intensive, it needs to start in June rather than July to finish before term.
We are hours from the nearest city. Does that limit anything?
Not at all. The class is held live over video, so distance from a city has no bearing on which tutors are available or what can be taught.
Is all of Texas on the same time zone?
Nearly. The great majority of the state is Central; the far west is Mountain. It is worth confirming at setup if you are out that way.
Should we study through the summer?
It is the best window of the year for concentrated work, provided it is planned. The alternative — stopping in June and restarting in late August — usually costs several weeks of recovery.
How important is keeping the same tutor?
Very, particularly during memorisation. Continuity is worth more than a marginally more convenient time slot, which is why the trial is worth using properly.
