Not all of British Columbia keeps Pacific Time
The coast and the southern interior run on Pacific Time, and most descriptions of the province stop there. They should not. Parts of the east — the Peace River country in particular — keep Mountain Time instead, and some communities do not move their clocks for daylight saving at all.
The result is a province where the answer to “what time is it in BC” depends on where in BC, and where it depends on the season as well. A family that has moved within the province, or one coordinating with relatives elsewhere in it, can be an hour out without anything obvious having changed.

Getting the time right in a province with more than one
Say where you are, not just the province
“Seven in the evening, Vancouver time” is unambiguous. “Seven, BC time” is not, and it is the most common cause of a missed first lesson we see from here.
Some areas do not shift
Where daylight saving is not observed, a slot booked in winter can be an hour out by summer even against a tutor who has not moved. Worth confirming in March and November.
The coast is straightforward
Vancouver, Surrey, Victoria and Kelowna are all Pacific and all shift on the standard dates. The complication is eastern and small, but it is real.

Online Quran classes for families across British Columbia, including Vancouver, Surrey, Victoria, and Kelowna
Because every class is held live over video, there's no commute and no fixed classroom location -- students join from British Columbia, including Vancouver, Surrey, Victoria, and Kelowna on a schedule built around Pacific Time, with the same qualified, native Arabic-speaking tutors available to every family regardless of neighbourhood.
A province where distance has always been the obstacle
British Columbia is mountainous, heavily forested and very large, and for families outside the Lower Mainland the practical barrier to Quran study has rarely been interest. It has been that the nearest qualified teacher is a long drive through terrain that is unforgiving for several months of the year.
That is the specific problem an online arrangement removes, and the benefit is not really convenience. It is selection. A household in the interior chooses from the same tutors as one in Vancouver rather than from whoever is reachable, and for Hifz or an Ijazah pathway that difference is the whole thing rather than a marginal improvement.
The corollary is that continuity is worth protecting more here than in a dense market. Where a family in a large city can change teacher at little cost, one that has found a good fit in the interior should hold onto it, which is the real purpose of the free trial — settling whether the teaching suits the student before anything depends on it.
BC's school year runs from early September to late June and includes a two-week spring break rather than the single week most provinces take. That fortnight is long enough for memorised material to loosen, and it is the one break in the BC year that genuinely repays keeping a reduced schedule across.
Students join from Vancouver, Surrey, Victoria, Kelowna and across the interior and the north on identical terms.
What families in British Columbia ask before enrolling
Is all of British Columbia on Pacific Time?
No. The coast and southern interior are, but parts of the east keep Mountain Time and some communities do not observe daylight saving. It is worth being specific about your location when a slot is set.
How do we avoid a one-hour mix-up?
Name your city rather than the province when agreeing a time, and confirm the slot at the March and November changeovers if you are in an area that does not shift.
Does living in the interior limit our choice of tutor?
Not at all, and that is the main reason families outside the Lower Mainland study this way. The tutor pool is not restricted by what is within driving distance.
How should we handle the two-week spring break?
Keep something light running. A fortnight is long enough for memorisation to slip, and recovering it costs more than the revision would have.
Which parts of BC do you cover?
All of it, coast to interior to north. There is no catchment area.
