4 Quls- Importance and Benefits of four Quls in Islam

What are the 4 Quls Surahs in Quran?

The 4 Quls are four foundational chapters of the Quran. Each chapter contains a different interpretation. The four Surahs that start with the “Qul” are known as the four Qul. These four Surah are that are called the 4 Quls of Islam. 

  1. Surah Al-Kafiroon 
  2. Surah Ikhlas 
  3. Surah Al-Falaq 
  4. Surah An-Nas

Surah Kafirun 

Surah Al-Kafiroon, the 109th chapter of the Holy Quran, comprises four verses. It is equal to one-quarter of the whole of the Quran. The Surah teaches Muslims to stick with their religion in a society with non-Muslims hostile to Islam. If the non-Muslims deny accepting the message of Islam, you should not concern and stick to what is given to you by the Prophet (SAW). 

Surah Kafirun English Translation 

 قُلْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ

Say, “O disbelievers,

لَآ أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ

I do not worship what you worship.

وَلَآ أَنتُمْ عَٰبِدُونَ مَآ أَعْبُدُ

Nor are you worshippers of what I worship.

وَلَآ أَنَا۠ عَابِدٌ مَّا عَبَدتُّمْ

Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship.

وَلَآ أَنتُمْ عَٰبِدُونَ مَآ أَعْبُدُ

Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship.

لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِىَ دِينِ

For you is your religion, and for me is my religion.”

What are the benefits of Surah Kafirun?

Imam Abu Dawood narrated that the Holy Prophet (SAW) said

“recite Surah al-Kafirun before going to bed because this Surah cleans from Shirk.” 

The one who recites Surah Kafirun before going to sleep remains safe the whole night. 

Surah Ikhlas

Surah Iklas is the comprehensive definition of tauheed. It is the 112th chapter of the Holy Quran and consists of 4 verses. It explains who Allah is and knowing it well enough for us to be safe from disbelief. Reciting three times Surah Ikhlas is equal to the recitation of the whole of the Quran. 

Surah Ikhlas English Translation 

 قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ

Say, “He is Allāh, [who is] One,

ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ 

Allāh, the Self-sufficient

لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ

He neither begets nor is born,

وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌۢ

Nor is there to Him any equivalent.”

What are the benefits of reciting Surah Ikhlas?

The benefits of the recitation of Surah Ikhlas are uncountable; Ma’az bin Anas narrates that the Holy Prophet (SAW) said:

 “Whoever recites Surah Ikhlas ten times, Allah Almighty will build a house for his heaven. 

Reciting Surah Al Ikhlas is supposed to be the norm for earning Allah’s love and reaching paradise.
It also dismisses poverty and increases maintenance.
Reciting Surah Ikhlas makes a person worthy of having the archangel Jibril participate in their funeral prayer.

Surah Al Falaq

Surah Al Falq called Al-Muawwidhatayn “The Refuges” because we seek refuge from different evils. The Surah al-Falaq guides how to seek the protection of Allah Almighty from the black magic and evil eye. The 113th chapter of the Quran contains 5 Ayahs.

Surah Al Falaq English Translation 

 قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْفَلَقِ

Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak

مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

From the evil of that which He created

وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ

And from the evil of darkness when it settles

وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّٰثَٰتِ فِى ٱلْعُقَدِ

And from the evil of the blowers in knots

وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ

And from the evil of an envier when he envies.”

What are the benefits of reciting Surah Al Falaq?

Imam Tirmidhi narrates that the Holy Prophet (SAW) used the Surah al-Falaq and Surah Al-Nas against the black magic and evil eye. 

Surah Nas

Surah Nas, the last (114th) chapter of the Quran. It is called Mecci Surah because it is revealed in Mecca when Holy Prophet (SAW) suffers from the harmful effects of the magic spell by Labeeb ibn Asam.

It teaches us how to seek the Protection of Allah Almighty from the negative thought instilled by the Jinns and the evils of humans.

Surah Nas English Translation 

 قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلنَّاسِ

Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of humanity,

مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ

The Sovereign of humanity,

إِلَٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ

The God of humanity,

مِن شَرِّ ٱلْوَسْوَاسِ ٱلْخَنَّاسِ

From the evil of the retreating whisperer –

ٱلَّذِى يُوَسْوِسُ فِى صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ

Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of humanity –

مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ

From among the jinn and humanity.”

What are the benefits of Reciting Surah Nas?

The benefits of reciting Surah Nas  are that they guide us about the right and Bad ways of Allah 

It helps us to seek the refuge of Allah from the Evils. 

Imam Jafar al-Sadiq narrated the benefits of this Surah are concerned that whoever recites the Surah Al-Nas in his home every night will be safe from the evils of Jinns the whole night. 

Benefits of reciting 4 Quls

The 4 Quls are the powerful Surahs in the Quran that holds immense rewards and benefits. They are well-known Surahs to get protected from the evils.

Hazrat Aisha (RA) narrated that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) went to bed every night, he used to cup his hands together and blow over them after reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas and then rub his hands over whatever parts of his body, starting with his head, face and front of his body. He used to do that three times. [Bukhari]

  • Reciting 4 Quls will protect the Muslims from the black magic, evil eyes, Shirk and Satan.
  • Reciting 4 Quls can be recited to seek forgiveness
  • 4 Quls can be recited for the protection from the Jinn and Shaitan
  • It helps us to seek the refuge of Allah from the Evils. 
  • Reciting 4 Quls protects us from the fire of Hell. 
  • 4 Quls will help us to get success on the Day of Judgement. 
  • To get relief from an illness that can’t cure with medicine, recite 4 Quls of the Quran.
  • Whoever recites these three Surahs, including Surah Ikhlas, Surah Al Falaq and Surah An Nas, three times in the morning and evening will suffice him against everything.
