Here in the blog we will discuss how we can maker a Productive Eid. How many Eid do Muslims celebrate in whole Year and when they celebrate that.

Eid means “the festival” or “Feast” in Arabic. There are two major Eid in the Islamic Calendar per Year:

  • Eid Ul-Fitr is celebrated on the 1st of shawal after the month of Ramadan. It means the “feast of breaking the fast”.
  • Eid Al-Adha is celebrated on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah as the “feast of the sacrifice”. It comes at the end of the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage by millions of Muslims to the Holy city of Mecca.

The two Eid recognize, celebrate and recall the specific events that are significant to the story of Islam. So let’s share some tips to make a Productive Eid  for you insha’Allah.

Tips for the Productive Eid

Eid is the blessing from Allah Almighty so don’t waste it by sleeping or just passing the time.

Following are the tips to make a Productive Eid.

Recite Takbir

Keep reciting the Eid Takbir.

Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La Ilaha Ila Allah Wa Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Wa Lillahi Alhamd

Allah is the Greatest; Allah is the greatest. There is no deity (no god) besides Allah, and Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest, and to Allah, all praises belong.

As much as you can wherever, you go on the last day before Eid till the Eid Prayer! Try to Recite the takbeer in the car, in shopping malls, and at home! Revive this Sunnah and truly feel the greatness of Islam.

Follow Sunnah Before Eid Prayer

The following given acts are prescribed as Sunnah at the beginning of the day of Eid before proceeding to the prayer to make a Productive Eid:

1. Take a bath.

2. Put on your best available clothes

3. Wear perfume

4. Eat sweet food, preferably dates, before the Eid prayer

5. Recite the following Takbir while going to the the’‘Eid prayer

“Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La Ilaha Ila Allah Wa Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Wa Lillahi Alhamd”

Increase Your Supplications

On this blessed day, ensure you make dua that Allah accepts all your good deeds and grants you another Ramadan. Thank Allah (SWT) for blessing us with good food, clothes, families/friends, and safety. Also, don’t forget the Ummah in your prayers; pray for the Ummah all around the World.

Give Zakat-ul-Fitar

Give Zakat-ul-Fitar for each individual’s part at home/family. Give to needy people so they too can share the joys of Eid. It’s a Wonderful event to teach your children about charity with an open heart. If you got children at home, let them know about the Virtues of Zakat, so they have this in their mind from a very early age.

Take a different route to/from the mosque

In a narration, the Prophet (PBUH) used to take a different route on his way back from the prayer. Changing lanes allow you to spread the greetings of Salam to different people. There’s also a subtle meaning here when you come back with a different route; you’re coming back home after Eid a changed and better person inshaAllah.

Visit Your dear ones

This is a great part to make a Productive Eid. Do Visit your dear ones but first, keep in mind a few forgotten etiquettes:

  1. Call before you visit (of course, you don’t want to visit and find them all sleeping!)
  2. Take a Gift (no matter how small), especially for the children. Gifts have the power to express your feelings and happiness, so just go for it.
  3. Invite them to yours as well. They’ve played host; now it’s your turn.

Call those who are far, and you can’t visit them. For those who have made amends and established broken family relations, Eid is your opportunity to strengthen these new ties Insha’Allah, so don’t miss out!

Stick to the good deeds

This is important tip to make a productive Eid and will ensure you continue your good deeds after Ramadan Insha’Allah. Make sure you stick to the good deeds after Eid from day 1; so Salah on time, Hijab on (if you’re new to Hijab), reciting and understanding a few pages of the Quran etc..

You want to build these good deeds into your daily habit and get them to be part of your new routine from day one. If you let it go on Eid day, it’ll be harder to pick them up again on the 2nd or 3rd day of Eid and so on.

So here are a few easy, simple yet important tips to make a Productive Eid. Keep these things in your mind and implement them smoothly, and you will see how much enthusiasm and happiness it puts in your Eid days, and you can make a Productive Eid. Insha’Allah.

Again at the end, EID MUBARAK. May this Eid bring true Happiness and Blessings for you and your Dear ones. Ameen!
