We firmly believe that the goods and evil are from Allah Almighty. Every hardship and grief is an opportunity to achieve higher ranks and to be patient and gain Allah’s mercy and blessing and Allah’s regard for you. The more suffering and patience, the more blessing.

The Prophet (SAW) said:

“The people who face the most demanding tests are the prophets, the righteous, and those following them in degree. A person is tried according to his religion. So if there is firmness in his religion, the trial is increased, and if there is a weakness, it is lightened. Verily a trial remains with a servant until he walks the earth having no sin left upon him.” [Bukhari].

Quranic Verses on Hardships of Life

  • Allah does not burden a soul except its capacity.

In the Quran, Allah reminds us that despite whatever hardships come in our life from Allah Almighty, we must never forget that each test given us was designed specifically for us. Nothing is given to us above our capacity, meaning Allah knows you can overwhelm whatever problems you face. It would help if you believed you could overcome them.

“Allah does not burden any soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. “Our Lord, do not take us to task if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, burden us not with that which we cannot bear. And pardon us, and forgive us, and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.”

(AlQuran 2:286)

  • Allah will change the condition who wills to change

“Indeed, Allāh will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. And when Allāh intends for a person ill, there is no repelling it. And there is not for them besides Him any patron.”

(AlQuran 13:11)

Allah Almighty clearly said in the above verse that we are in charge of changing ourselves for the better. We can only connect with Allah from ourselves, and finding this strength requires our commitment, responsibility, and faith in Allah’s power and mercy.

  • Test of Life and Luxuries

Stay strong in the ups and downs of life. Allah Almighty ensures us that no matter what, we will all be tried in this world by Allah. And the main thing is how we react to it and remember to stay true to our faith and devotion to God.

“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient,

Who, when disaster strikes them, say, “Indeed we belong to Allāh, and indeed to Him we will return.”

(AlQuran 2:155-156)

  • Hardship with Ease

Allah Almighty said in the Quran that when there is hardship, there will be ease. Your strength will come from being able and willing to fight the different hardships we face. It is more important to stay steadfast and connect with your Creator.

“For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease [i.e., relief].

Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].

And to your Lord direct [your] longing.”

(AlQuran 94:5-8)

Dua for hardships

The supplications of the hardship that The Prophet ﷺ advised his daughter, Fatima R.A to say in the morning and evening.

“O Allah, I hope for Your mercy. Please do not leave me to myself even in a blink of an eye. Correct all of my affairs for me. There is none worthy of worship except You.”

  • Dua for anxiety

The Prophet PBUH would always make this dua, and many of the Companions heard him repeat it repeatedly.

Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal-hammi wal-Ḥuzni wal-‘ajazi wal-kasli wal-bukhli wal-jubni wa ḍala’id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijal.

“O Allah, I take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being overpowered by men.” (Bukhari)

  • Dua for making hardships easy

A beautiful dua to ask Allah Almighty to make our affairs easy.

Allahumma la sahla illa maa ja’altahu sahlan, wa Anta taj’alu l-hazna idha shi’ta sahla.

“O Allah! There is no ease except that which You make easy, and indeed You, when You want, make difficulties easy.” – (Sahih Ibn Hibban)
