Two eyes to look, two ears to listen, a nose to smell, a mouth with a tongue to speak, two hands to work, two legs to walk, a brain to ponder and a skeleton to protect. We, humans, have been immensely blessed by countless blessings of Allah S.W.T in our life. And if some of us lack any of these blessings. Allah S.W.T has fairly compensated our shortcomings by his mercy and justice. However, there is one huge blessing among trillions of others that He has bestowed upon every human being in the form of “Parents”.

Parents Are The Most Loving Relation:

Parents i.e. Mother and Father, these two blood relations are probably the most noble and most loving relations that have ever existed on this planet. It is, no doubt, the parental love that is the strongest fondness in this world after the love and affection of Allah S.W.T. Parents are such blessed creatures of Allah S.W.T. who are granted with strong hearts and affectionate souls that. despite all those hardships that they face during their children’s brought up. they would always lay their lives willingly for their children at any moment of life. Parents are like those great tall trees which never lose their shadows even if they are living their last age.

Allah S.W.T. has not just made good and fair parents a blessing for their offspring in this world but also for the other world. Allah has told us many ways to seek his love, kindness and forgiveness. and He has definitely mentioned repeatedly that care and love for parents is one of all those many ways. Good behavior with parents has such significance in the eyes of Allah S.W.T.

Imam as-Sadiq (R.A) said:

“The best deeds are: Salat in its stipulated hour, goodness towards parents and Jihad in the way of Allah.”

Biharul Anwar, Volume 74, Page 85.

Allah has repeatedly mentioned in Quran to be kind to our parents and to keep ourselves from maltreating them or disobeying them on righteous matters.

“And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but Him. and that you shall show goodness to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you. say not to them (so much as) “Ugh” nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word.
Noble Qur’an, Surat Bani Isra’il (17) Verse 23.

Allah S.W.T, the most beneficent and generous, has also promised such bounties and rewards in response to every act of kindness that we ever do to our parents.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said:

“Every righteous child who casts a look of mercy and affection upon his parents shall be granted. for every look of his, rewards equivalent to that of an accepted Hajj.”

Those around the Prophet questioned:

“O’ Prophet of Allah! Even if he were to look at them a hundred times a day?”

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) replied: “Indeed! Allah is the Greatest and Most Kind.”

Parents Are a Great Blessing:

Indeed, Mother and Father are the greatest blessings of Allah S.W.T. Hence we should never be ungrateful to our parents as it is deemed as ungrateful to Allah. It is for sure that there is no worship that can take us faster towards Allah’s happiness than showing respect and devotion to our Muslim parents. Our parents are like a shield which protects you not just in this world but also hereafter by the grace and will of Allah. They deserve our love and full obedience. They deserve respect and honor for our parents are really “a blessing in disguise” for each of us.
