The value of our actions often takes center stage in discussions about personal growth, morality, and achieving goals, but intentions hold a more profound significance. Intentions are the unseen driving force that shapes the meaning and impact of every choice we make. While actions are tangible and observable, it is the purity and sincerity of our intentions that give them purpose and authenticity. For example, a simple act of kindness holds more value when motivated by genuine care rather than self-interest.

This distinction highlights why intentions should always be at the forefront of our decisions. They guide our inner compass, ensuring that our actions align with our values and principles. In a world that often prioritizes outcomes and appearances, understanding the importance of intentions reminds us to focus on the “why” behind everything we do, cultivating a mindset that emphasizes inner purpose over outward results. By nurturing good intentions, we set the foundation for meaningful actions that resonate with authenticity and lasting impact.

You do many chores in your daily life. Many of them are a part of your daily life, like helping someone in the daily house chores, eating when you are hungry. Sleeping when you are tired and drinking water when you are thirsty. How important these actions are in your daily life, but what a brilliant idea it would be if you could make these daily chores a source of huge reward for you. But who can you do this??? Simply by your intentions.

Yahya Ibn Abu Kathir said:

Learn about intentions, for their importance is greater than the importance of actions”

Intention Is The Foundation Of Every Action

The Messenger of Allaah (SAW) said:

“Verily actions are by intentions, and for every person is what he intended. So the one whose ‘hijrah’ (migration) was to Allaah and His Messenger, then his ‘hijrah’ was to Allaah and His Messenger. And the one whose ‘hijrah’ was for the world to gain from it, or a woman to marry her, then his ‘hijrah’ was for what he made ‘hijrah’ for.”

[Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]

Every action that is done without seeking Allah’s pleasure is invalid and devoid of reward. Thus you want to  have reward for daily life actions do them for the sake of Allah. Like help someone for you are helping him/her for the sake of Allah. Drink water in the way our Prophet (SAW) drunk i.e follow the Sunnah of Drinking water. Drink water in three sips while sitting. Likewise if the act sleeping is according to Sunaah then so  it can also be a source of huge reward for you. Asactions are by intentions”.

Intention Or Niyyah

Niyyah, which is the Arabic word for intention which means: Decided or intended purpose.
Your niyyah is between you and Allah. Your intentions before the actions should not have to be communicated openly. It is an intended purpose made in your heart and mind prior to engaging in an act, to acknowledge that it is for the sake of Allah.
