The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) says that the most honorable people in His Ummah are those who memorize Quran. He (SAW) wanted us to read and memorize the Holy Quran.

 خَيْرُكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ

“The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.”

(Sahih Bukhari)

How to Memorize the Quran?

Here are a few tips to memorize Quran in easy steps and a short period.

  • Having Pure Intention

The first and most essential step is to purify the intention that the purpose to memorize Quran is to please Allah Almighty. And Make sure that your intention is not to show off in front of people. There is no reward for one who memorize Quran or recite it for people’s sake.

  • Firm Resolution

A person should have such intent when starting to memorize the Qur’an, in the depth of it, and to know the excellence of the Qur’an to aspire after the reward mentioned above and yearn to draw close to Allah through that act of worship. Without this firm resolution, a person will treat the whole matter lightly, will become tired quickly, and will not even be able to achieve his goal.

  • Correcting Pronunciation and Recitation

First, correct your pronunciation and recitation of the Holy Quran, and start focusing on Tajweed rules, i.e., Noon Saakinah, Laam Sakinah, and Meem Sakinah.

  • Set a Proper Plan and Time

One effective way to learn anything is to make a proper schedule and timeline. Set a plan for manageable targets and a reasonable goal to memorize Quran. It will help you stay motivated and passionate about memorizing Quran.

  • Continual Recitation on Revision

The Quran was revealed in Arabic, and it is difficult for us to memorize it. The best way to memorize the Quran and remember it for a long time is to revise it many times a day, especially in every Salah.

  • Understand what you are Learning

Understand the meaning of the verses and know how they are linked to each other while memorizing the Quran. Understanding the meaning of the verses is essential for memorizing the Quran and increasing the rewards of memorizing the Quran.

  • Listen to Quran Recitation

Repeatedly listening to the Quran recitation helps you to memorize Quran. Choose the best Quran Reciter and listen to them repeatedly. It will make Quran memorization easy for you by making words familiar and helps you with pronunciation and Tajweed.

  • Make Consistency

Above all, the main thing is to make consistency. In any goal, you’ll fail if you cannot make consistency. To achieve the target of memorizing the Quran, you must be consistent and set a proper time for it with complete focus. The more frequently you recite and memorize the Quran, completing your goal becomes more accessible.

  • Get Help from Quran Tutor

As we are unaware of Arabic Grammar and pronunciation, It is better to get help from Quran Tutor by visiting any Mosque, madrassah, or any Quran institution, either Physically or Online.

  • Make Dua

Nothing is possible without Allah’s help. In every aspect of life, we seek Allah’s mercy and blessing to achieve our targets and succeed. Make Dua and seek help from Allah Almighty to memorize Quran.

What Are The Benefits of Memorizing the Quran?

Memorizing the Quran is a physical, mental, and spiritual journey to build a better relationship between Muslims and Allah.

There are uncountable benefits of Memorizing the Quran; a few of them are as follows,

  • Recite and Rise

On the Day of Judgement, Allah will be asked the person to recite the Quran. They will ascend Heaven as they begin and stop at their place in Jannah when they finish.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said,

“It will be said to the one who memorized the Quran/held fast on the Quran [together with practicing upon it], ‘Recite and ascend and recite just as you would recite in the world, for your abode (in Jannah) will be the last verse you recite.”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2914, Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 1459, Declared authentic –hasanun sahih– by Imam Tirmidhi)

  • Earn Rewards for your Parents

When Kids recite the Quran and act upon the teachings of the Quran, Allah Almighty promises shining crowns and beautiful garments in Jannah and their Parents.

The one who recites the Quran and acts upon it, on the Day of Qiyamah, his parents will be made to wear a crown whose light is better than the light of the sun had it been in the dwellings of the world, so what do you think (of the reward) of the person himself”

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 1453 and Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 1 pg. 567)

  • Understanding of Deen

Memorizing the Quran is the key to understanding the Deen. If memorization is coupled with knowledge of the meaning of the Quran, it helps us to understand the Quran deeply.

  • Perfect your Salah

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and His companion lengthened His Salawat to achieve nearness to Allah. A person can achieve long Qayam by reciting more and long Surahs.

  • Sharpen your Memory

Quran Memorization helps you to sharpen your memory. Hifz stimulates the brain and increases its working capacity.

  • Protection in World and HereAfter

Memorize Quran to protect you in Duniya and the Hereafter. It will connect you with Allah and Deen and protect you from evil acts and shaitan.

I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying,

“Read the Qur’an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection.”
