Every human being on this planet, at some point in their life, is destined to experience certain events that ultimately will bring them close to Allah (S.W.T). That will make you connect to Allah. They can feel a connection in their hearts, which gets stronger in every situation, whether sadness or happiness.
There are times in which the relationship weakens, including lack of faith, a not –so pure heart, little sins, and many more reasons. At that point, we can all feel the empty feeling in our hearts, the crying, those specific phases of depression. We all have been through that.
At such a time when we need to shove off all of these feelings, we start wondering where did the connection go? I am regular in my prayers, but why can’t I feel the peace in my heart now? Why is there so much anger and irritation in my heart altogether? At this stage, we need to review our acts and intentions and connect to Allah.
Ways to Connect To Allah:
Some of the ways that can help us build our connection again with ALLAH (S.W.T) or strengthen it can be:
1) Follow Sunnah
Let’s check our actions. First, are we following the Sunnah in the deeds that we perform because, in the Quran, it is mentioned: Say (O Prophet (S.A.W)):
”If you really love ALLAH, then follow me, and ALLAH shall love you and forgive your sins. ALLAH is Most-forgiving, Very-Merciful.” (3:31)
when we can feel that what we are doing is right and according to the sunnah of Prophet (S.A.W). The feeling of contentment will settle down naturally, and we connect to Allah.
2) Make Dua To Connect To Allah:
We all know what a powerful tool “Dua” is. It is the most direct way we can communicate with ALLAH (S.W.T). We can sit and pray and then make Dua even without saying a single word. Sometimes the feelings are so intense that no words can come out of our mouths. Our heart speaks then, and ALLAH (S.W.T) is the knower of the heart. All worries and tensions end when you submit yourself to ALLAH (S.W.T). Just have that pure feeling of faith in your heart; miracles happen!
3) Names of Allah
The names of ALLAH (S.W.T) are taught to us when we are still young. But it is our duty to reread them, not with the eye of a toddler, but to understand them. The 99 names of ALLAH (S.W.T) represent HIS qualities. If we don’t know his beautiful qualities and just don’t understand them, how can we get closer to HIM without knowing HIM and connect to Allah?
4) Dhikar
Dhikr is another important factor that will help us strengthen our relationship with ALLAH (S.W.T). a free mind is a shaytans workshop. So instead of sitting idle and inviting all the poison inside of our heads. Grab a Tasbeeh and start with “Astagfirullah,” which will kill your little sins. Then say “Alhamdulilah,” thanking all the blessings that you have. These “Magic words” have so much power in them that you can actually feel your heart being washed of dirt.
Reflecting on Our Hearts to Connect to Allah
There are moments in life when we feel a distance between ourselves and Allah, often accompanied by a sense of emptiness or restlessness. These feelings serve as a wake-up call, urging us to evaluate our spiritual state and realign our hearts with our Creator. A pure and sincere heart is essential in building a strong connection to Allah. When our hearts are clouded by distractions, sins, or negligence, the relationship weakens. Taking time to reflect, seek forgiveness, and renew our intentions is the first step toward restoring this bond.
It’s important to remember that connecting to Allah is a journey, not an instant transformation. Small yet consistent efforts, such as incorporating dhikr into our daily routines or reflecting on the beauty of Allah’s creations, bring us closer to Him. These moments of mindfulness allow us to appreciate His blessings and develop a heart filled with gratitude and reliance on Him.
Practical Steps to Strengthen the Bond
Another powerful way to connect to Allah is through contemplation of His names and attributes. The 99 names of Allah are a gateway to understanding His infinite mercy, wisdom, and power. When we reflect on His qualities, we develop awe and love for Him, fostering a deeper connection. For example, knowing Allah as Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful) reminds us of His endless compassion, encouraging us to turn to Him in repentance and hope.
Acts of service and kindness are also pathways to draw nearer to Allah. Whether through helping a neighbor, giving charity, or simply offering a kind word, every good deed performed with the intention of pleasing Allah strengthens the spiritual bond. These actions are not just acts of worship but also a reflection of our commitment to embodying the values that Allah loves.
Conclusion: Walking Toward Allah
The journey to connect to Allah requires consistent effort, reflection, and sincerity. Whether through worship, gratitude, or acts of kindness, every small step taken toward Allah is met with His immense mercy and nearness. As the Hadith Qudsi beautifully states: “Take one step toward me, and I will take ten steps toward you. Walk toward me, and I will run toward you.”
This profound promise reminds us that Allah’s door is always open. By striving to cleanse our hearts, engage in meaningful worship, and embrace His guidance, we can establish a lifelong bond with our Creator. May Allah bless us all with hearts that are constantly connected to Him and grant us the strength to maintain this connection in every phase of our lives. Ameen.
